Infinity is a vast and abstract concept describing something without any limit, and is relevant in a number of fields, predominantly mathematics, physics, and philosophy.  The idea that something can be without finish, unbounded, or endless is found so fascinating by many, that there is a day of appreciation just for this concept alone, which is called Infinity Day!

Infinity day is held on August 8th each year.  August because it is the 8th month of the calendar.  The number 8 is not just a coincidence because when turned horizontally, it represents the symbol for infinity.  Also, if you trace the path of a figure 8, it is never ending. On this day, the number 8 is celebrated for all of its cosmic and world significance.  For example, there are 8 planets in our solar system, the number 2 cubed is 8, 8 is the atomic number of Oxygen, and figure 8 knots are very strong and reliable.  These are just a few examples, but there are many more which prove the number’s strong significance.

Infinity Symbol

Infinity day was created by Jean-Pierre Ady Fenyo in 1987. Jean-Pierre was a philosopher, poet, journalist and science-fiction author, who became somewhat famous in 1987 for giving free advice to the people of New York City as a sort of ‘sidewalk philosopher’.  Since it’s origin, throughout the world, Infinity Day has been celebrated in the form of peaceful and lawful demonstrations for philosophical inquiry, freedom of expression, freedom of speech and ethics in society.

Ideas of freedom and love relate to the concept of infinity because of their ‘forever and always’ meanings.  Infinity Day for Magic Pony means we, the world, should keep fighting for all of our lives to be free and full of love for infinity and beyond! We would like to showcase some items we carry in our store that represent infinity in honour of this day.

Take a look at Erica Weiner’s  Infinity Ring, in brass, which can also be found in silver. Next to that, we have Species by the Thousand’s Pentagram Ring, in white bronze. The circle around a pentagram is a symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, and protection. This ring can also be found in brass.

Next up is Odette’s 14k Arrow Band with White Diamonds.  When the light strikes your hands, the four, white diamonds sparkle, radiating magical vibes.  Since the arrow relates to infinity, check out Odette’s Silver Arrow Ring and Arrow Stack Ring as well.

Erica Weiner’s Moon and Star Studs seem fitting here.  Space and Infinity go hand in hand.
