On July 17 we opened an amazing summer exhibition at our sister gallery, NARWHAL, located at 2104 Dundas Street West in Toronto. Featuring the work of Matthew Feyld, Alvaro Ilizarbe and Paul Wackers, the exhibition showcases contemporary painting and sculpture inspired by the artist’s shared strategies for articulating environments and ideas. Entitled View Point Geon, it explores the perceptions and reductive choices made by each artist when translating the world around us. Originating from Peru, Saskatoon and Connecticut, and currently residing in Los Angeles, Montreal and Brooklyn, each artist has chosen to live and work in diverse locations across the continent, allowing for a broader understanding of the environments we inhabit and a strong shared understanding of the natural geometries surrounding us.

We were extremely lucky to have both Paul and Matthew join us for the opening reception. It was wonderful to have a chance to connect them with the Toronto arts community and for visitors to be able to meet the artists in person. What a beautiful summer opening night! Thank you to all who came out to help us celebrate. Here are some pictures from our opening party. Special thanks to Genna of Club Sandwich for the incredible rice crispy sculptural treats.

Come experience View Point Geon at Narwhal until August 16, 2014. The exhibition is open Wed-Sat from 12-6pm or by appointment (click for map). The gallery is free and open to the public.
