Magic Pony is thrilled to welcome Clara Venice for a mesmerizing solo concert on Thursday, September 13th at 8:30pm. Clara is a Toronto-based musician who combines her divine voice with extensive instrumental talents to create exquisite one-woman performances. Doors open at 7:00pm for a colourful cocktail hour, so come early to mingle and grab a good view of the concert. Accompanying Clara’s concert will be hairstylist extraordinaire Shawna Lane of Toronto’s Brennan Demelo Studio, who will be present to give attendees colourful and graphic hair stencils.
Clara was a special guest at Narwhal on Friday, Aug 24th for the opening of the Echo Dell group exhibition and the Junction Design Crawl. Attendees were ecstatic about her concert and continued to return to the gallery to see her play throughout the night.
Clara Venice’s performances mix a multitude of instruments with her powerful voice to create a remarkable orchestra of singing and electronic sound. She is well versed in a range of instruments including the electric violin, electric guitar, glockenspiel, omnichord, ukelele and the theremin. She is one of few musicians who is skilled with the theremin, a unique electronic instrument that is commonly heard in The Beach Boys’ classic “Good Vibrations”. Clara performs original songs that are inspired and remixed from classical music, and she performs unique, carefully selected covers from an array of musical genres and eras. On top of her musical brilliance, Clara’s endearing lolita-inspired outfits and psychedelic background visuals by graphic designer Ken Ogawa make a unique performance you will not want to miss.
